Councillor Lewis gave background information on his notice of motion.
Councillor Reed extended thanks on behalf of the Safer Carr's Landing Community Road Group for advocating for safer transit and safer public activity along Carr's Landing Road. The group has had strong support from the District's road and fire team. She thanked staff for being open to discussion and sharing information. She hopes this leads to more road safety. Councillor Reed thanked staff and members of the agricultural community who came to the Water Availability Workshop on November 4, 2023. It was a well organized meeting with great community engagement. She thanked the Regional District of the Central Okanagan for enabling Kopje Park to be an off leash dog park for the winter, as well as Kaloya Park where dogs will be permitted on leash. She encouraged members of the community to volunteer to monitor parks. She thanked Jomae Arts for the new mural on the side of the Winfield Memorial Hall, and for the Public Art Advisory Commission for their support of the new community mural. Councillor Reed looks forward to being at the Remembrance Day service on Saturday and seeing the great community engagement as past years.
Councillor Brett thanked those who attended the Water Availability Workshop on November 4, 2023. She acknowledged the ministry change recently made where water and land files were moved to the ministry of land and resource stewardship on October 20, 2023. Councillor Brett thanked the Ministry for hearing the feedback from local government and responding.
Councillor Patel noted Turkey Bingo will be held at the Oyama Community Club on December 1st and 2nd. Councillor Patel noted Remembrance Day is this weekend and then the community will begin to think about Christmas. He asked community members to consider whether they can shop and support local before going online to purchase a present.
Mayor Ireland echoed the importance of supporting local. He noted how great the Water Availability Workshop was on the weekend and thanked Councillor Brett for attending, and Councillor Reed for taking notes to summarize the groups efforts. Mayor Ireland attended Ryan Donn's concert on the weekend. It was a great concert, and Ryan is a great host. On behalf of the Regional District of the Central Okanagan Mayor Ireland was able to tour the hospital when looking at the functions the Regional Hospital Board pays for.
