  • Lake Country Official Community Plan Review and Update
    The District is reviewing its Official Community Plan. This plan will shape how our community grows and develops over the next 20 years.
    We will be hosting two open houses at Municipal Hall and want to hear from you!

    • Wednesday, Sept 10th 3pm – 7pm
    • Thursday, Sept 11th 9am – 1pm

Visit www.LetsGrowLakeCountry.ca to take a survey that is available until Sept 30th. This site is full of information about the process and ways to get involved.


 

  • Interested in monitoring your household water consumption?
    The District is excited to provide an online feature that allows utility customers to view detailed data on water consumption for their property.
    This portal, called Neptune My360, allows customers to view their water usage 24/7, set out of town alerts and detect potential leaks.
    Access Neptune My360 through your utility account on MyLakeCountry.ca!  

 

  • The 32nd Annual Lake Country ArtWalk is happening this weekend - September 6 & 7, 2024, 10:00am to 5:00pm each day, with some special events extending into the evening on Saturday.  For two days every September, the Lake Country Community Complex at George Elliot Secondary and Creekside Theatre transforms into a festival of creativity. Everyone is welcome and the entry fee is still only a toonie.

Appointment of Approving Officer to ensure business continuity

    THAT Mr. Matthew Salmon, Director of Infrastructure & Development Engineering, be temporarily appointed as Approving Officer for the District of Lake Country until February 27, 2026

    AND THAT Mr. Brandon Mitchell, Infrastructure and Development Engineering Department, be temporarily appointed as the alternate Approving Officer for the District of Lake Country until February 27, 2026.

Councillor Irvine wished the community a happy harvest season and reminded the community of the shared pathway on lodge.

Councillor Lewis reminded the community of ArtWalk this weekend. 

Councillor McKenzie will be at ArtWalk over the weekend, and asked questions regarding dumping fees for volunteer organizations.  

Councillor Reed would like to hear from BC Hydro as a delegation.  She noted the rain in July caused massive wash outs in Carr's Landing and wondered if a team could come repair the road prior to winter.  She thanked the Carr's Landing Community and Recreation Association for the survey and hopes they have the opportunity to present to Council and Committees on the results of the survey.  Councillor Reed asked for information on how funds collected from the Speculation & Vacancy Tax being are distributed back to the community.

Councillor Patel reminded community members that there is still a fire ban. 

Councillor Brett read a statement she wrote regarding the recent removal and banning of approximately 200 books from Alberta libraries.

Mayor Ireland discussed the importance of education.  He reminded the community to take care, slow down, and support local.

The Mayor adjourned the meeting at  10:05 p.m.
