The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

    THAT the Regular Council Meeting Minutes of February 21, 2023 be adopted.

A Bylaw to close road and sell the parcel created to the adjacent property owner for adoption

The Mayor asked if there were any comments from the gallery a first, second and third time. There were none.

Adoption of the Five-Year Economic Development & Tourism Strategy

  • 2023-03-054 It was moved and seconded.

    THAT the Economic Development & Tourism Strategy 2023 to 2027 dated February 2023, attached to the report to Council dated March 7, 2023, be adopted.

    Carried.

Councillor Irvine reminded the community green bin collection starts this week. She encouraged residents to go through their bins and remove inappropriate items.

Councillor McKenzie inquired about starting events earlier in the spring and bringing a race type event to Lake Country. 

Councillor Brett announced the Okanagan Centre Hall spring clean up on Sunday March 12th at 9:30 a.m. and tickets are on sale at Intrigue Winery for the Spring Fever Dance on April 15th.  She recognized International Woman's Day March 8th and all the women on Council. Councillor Brett attended a Local Government Leadership Academy Seminar Series last week where she made new connections and learned a lot.

Councillor Patel attended the Local Government Leadership Academy Seminar Series along with Councillor Brett. He was thankful for the opportunity to attend. Councillor Patel learned a lot and met a great group of local government officials. 

Councillor Reed announced the Carr's Landing Community & Recreation Association general meeting that will feature a xeriscape presentation March 8th 7:00 p.m. at the Carr's Landing Fire Hall. She recognized International Woman's Day and thanked Marie Molloy and all the members of the Access and Age Friendly Committee for their years of dedication and service to the community. 

Councillor Lewis echoed the comments from Councillors Patel and Brett regarding the LGLA Seminar. He stated it was an eye-opening experience and by speaking to other local government officials it put Lake Country's struggles in perspective. 

Youth Councillor Haji announced George Elliot Secondary School is hosting a community movie night March 10th from 6:15 - 9:00 p.m. The movie will be How to Train Your Dragon and the cost is $2.00. Youth Councillor Haji announced she received early admission to the University of Victoria for their Bachelor of Science program. 

Mayor Ireland thanked Youth Councillor Haji for her contributions to Council. He expressed his support for a race event in Lake Country. The Mayor described the events and meetings he attended in the last week and the work being done to reach out to other groups about big issues. He gave kudos to everyone and all the work they have done.

The Mayor adjourned the meeting at 7:52 p.m.
